外表开朗、待人热情的马蒂娜，来自非洲塞内加尔。她独自乘坐30多个小时的飞机，抵达离家约8000公里的中国。一年半过去了，她收获了很多，也成长了很多。在塞内加尔，蒂娜已经历了两年的大学生活，主修地理学，但与中国大学不同的是，在非洲，大约有1000个学生一起上校公开课，课堂氛围活跃、课业负担轻。老师经常会对学生说：大学是你自己的，你们已经长大了，要勇敢追求自己的生活。对自己严格要求的蒂娜，依然坚持努力学习。因此，她不仅取得了全年级第二的好成绩，而且还曾荣获1,5000元的奖学金。

Martina, from Senegal, Africa, is an outgoing, cheerful and enthusiastic girl. She took more than 30 hours' flight to arrive in China which is 8000 kilometers far away from her home country. However, a year and a half later, she has learned a lot. In Senegal, Dina has already attended university programs for two years. She has majored in Geography. But African universities are quite different from those in China. There are around 1000 students sitting in a class at the same time. Students in class are quite active with little stress. Her teachers often tell her that the university belongs to you, and since you have grown up, you should master your own life. Therefore, Dina insists on keeping studying harder, and thus she not only ranked top two in her class, but also was awarded 1,5000 RMB scholarship.

谈到未来规划，蒂娜说：“我要回家乡，自己开公司、自己当老板、不会受制于人。”我问她是否会留在中国时，她说:“我很喜欢中国，有机会的话，我会留在中国，开展中非贸易。”现在，信仰伊斯兰教的她每天5点起床进行朝拜，一天共五次。平常她也会在厨房做一些非洲传统美食，可以说，她已经完全适应了中国生活。把华大当作第二故乡的蒂娜明年将到泰国做交流生，离别前夕，她说：“不管将来我走到哪里，我的心都深深地植根在华园，这里会是我永远的牵挂。”

Dina is not content with the excellent results she has achieved. In order to improve herself, she chose to go for further study in China. When she first set foot on Beijing, the chilling wind and the totally strange Chinese language rendered her pretty depressed. Every time she walked in streets, people would always look at her weirdly and some children even shouted at her:"Look, she is black!" Confronted with such sudden pressure, she chose to be optimistic. Introduced by one of her friends, Dina headed for the Chinese Language and Cultural College of Huaqiao University to learn Chinese for three months. After that, she came to International School of Huaqiao University to major in international business (all-English taught courses). When she was asked why she would choose China and Huaqiao University, she just smiled to me, saying: "In China, I could not only learn Chinese but also polish my English proficiency. When talking about her future, Dina said she would go back to her home country to set up her own company. She wants to be her own boss. When I asked her whether she would stay in China, she said YES and China was her favorite, and if given a chance, she would certainly live in China, making contributions to the bilateral trade between China and Africa. Now due to her Islamic faith, she needs to get up at 5 pm for worship for five times every day. Occasionally, she cooks African traditional dishes in the kitchen with her friends. In a word, she has been completely adapted to life in China. Huaqiao University means the second hometown for Dina. Next year she will fly to Kasetsart University, Thailand for just one year as an exchange student. Before the interview was finished, she added:"no matter where I go, my heart is deeply rooted in China and Huaqiao University, because here lives my forever love."
